A Month of Preschool Fun

By April 10, 2019 September 11th, 2019 No Comments

Every March, all the preschools on Ambergris Caye organize a month of stimulating experiences for their students. This is a chance to be creative, explore the community and discover their unique talents.

Here are the highlights of the 2019 preschool month

Opening Parade

Students marched through the streets of San Pedro, highlighting each of the learning themes for the year. We were National Symbols – the toucan, the black orchid, the mahogany tree, the tapir and the national flag. Other schools were shapes, numbers, animals, weather… it was a wonderful parade to see.

Sports Day and Expo

Young children are reading books, playing with counters and enjoying three legged races, sack races and balloon races.

The highlight of the second week was sports day. Students split into groups and had fun playing games alongside students from other preschools. With popular preschool games like sack races, balloon races and kicking balls, there was fun for everyone.

In the third week the children attended a fun, interactive expo at Central Park. Displays had hands on ways to interact with reading, phonics, counting, imaginative play, water, sand boxes and more. Young students from the primary schools also attended and enjoyed the hands on fun.

The Preschool Festival of Arts

The Festival of Arts gave all students the opportunity to perform. We performed two pieces – 5 little monkeys dancing on the bed and the poem A Great Somebody. Our students did well and the judges awarded us gold for both items. Other performances included popular themes such as the shape train, trolls, brown bear… what do you see, and even 10 green bottles.
