St. Michael’s Mission Trip 2022

By May 16, 2022 No Comments

This year St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh in North Carolina returned to Holy Cross with nine volunteers! St. Michael’s team was the first to work on the House of Grace by assembling the walls and floors in 2019 and worked more on this project on their 2021 trip. This year their work continued on the House of Grace as they continued to paint the walls and installed the doors.

Anson and Nora repainted various murals of past teams and the school sign by the main gate.

Team member Meg McHenry cleaned out the sewing center and packed the materials and sewing machines that were stored in the room. Ten containers of sewing materials were donated to a sewing program on the mainland. Mrs. Meg has been a big part of the sewing center as in the past her local ECW (Episcopal Church Women’s group) had donated sewing machines and materials.  She had even spent time sharing her skills and knowledge with the sewing ladies.

Jonathan, Benjamin, John, Philip, Jeff, and Jim helped Mr. Freddy replace the roof on the computer lab.

The group also dug trenches for the plumbing connecting the new water cistern which will provide purified water for the entire school. The commercial-grade purification system was successfully installed, thanks to the support given by St. Michaels Belize Outreach.
